                              Review of Artwork

                      "Wizard World of Mike Price"

                                by Joan Moffat

"The one thing that stands out to me is that, by a few simple strokes, each creature in Mike’s artwork has captured such expression in their eyes. The mouse has curiosity, the spider is observing, the dog is avidly reading books, the trees look alive and pleased with their life.

In Sunrise, there are flying saucers and different time periods mixed with fairies, dragons, a stone circle and druids. The brilliant yellow streak accenting the sun suggests a Summer Solstice ritual.

Street by Moonlight exemplifies Mike’s skill as a masterful illusionist. There are very few colors yet it looks colorful. There is the sense of a busy street even though there are no people.

Similarly, in Conjuration, even the moon seems to co-operate with fuzziness.

Another illusion is that of the smoke in Old Town that makes it look as if the houses are leaning and it evokes a Dickenslike time period.

One of Mike’s talents is the incredible detail. Each time I look at a print, there is more to see.

Art is meant to evoke emotions and responses and Mike’s Wizard World certainly fulfills."

"I love your work, Mike! Thank you so much for sharing it.

Your blending of industrial design elements such as moving mechanical parts, and curious time periods, plus whimsical science meets fantasy tell stories in themselves.

Can’t wait to see more!"

Book Review by Shannon Silvermoon

This whimsical “build-your-own-story” book is a delight to behold. The original artwork by Michael is cast in an order that really takes the viewer on a magical journey. Each page hides little “Easter eggs” of details to help you expand on your own story many times over. With fun prompts geared towards the child and the child at heart, the reader can create stories within the worlds. This would be a great interactive book to share with your children and grandchildren as your imagination reaches to the furthest star and the deepest ocean together.
